Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions can be ordered either by phone,by posting or dropping in your repeat prescription list to the surgery. In addition you can now order repeat prescriptions on-line. If you are interested in the on-line ordering please see our reception staff to register for this service.

Our repeat prescription phone line 01939 261403 is staffed between 9.00am to 12.30pm and from 2.00pm to 5.00pm on weekdays. Oustide these hours an answer phone is available for you to leave a prescription request. Please leave your name, date of birth, contact phone number and a list of the medications you require. 

Repeat prescriptions may be collected after 2.00pm the following working day. Occasionally there may be a delay in obtaining a particular medication.

If you live in the Bomere Heath area we also provide a weekly medication delivery service to the village hall on Friday morning at 11.30am. Please inform our receptionist when ordering your repeat prescriptions if you wish them to be delivered here.

Dispensing

We are fortunate to have a dispensary at the surgery and can dispense medication to most of our patients.  Medicines prescribed during a consultation can usually be collected straight away. 

We are only allowed to dispense medicines if you pay the full prescription charge or give proof of exemption from charges.  The prescription charge is set by the government, not the practice.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
